Center director Dr. Cynthia Baur co-moderated a panel on health misinformation as part of the Public Health at Maryland series. The panel delved into the impact of misinformation on controversial topics in public health, such as stopping the spread of COVID-19, vaccination, and use of e-cigarettes and medical marijuana. Additionally, panelists discussed the roots of misinformation and how to distinguish it from accurate information. The panelists also covered the effect of misinformation on the public sphere and what can be done to fight misinformation going forward.
