Devon Payne-Sturges, an associate professor with the Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health, was recognized as having one of the top papers of 2021 by Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP).
The journal released for the first time, a list of 15 publications that shouldn’t be missed by community members and researchers.
“The other editors and I wanted to highlight articles that address a key knowledge gap in environmental health sciences or were truly interesting to read,” said EHP Senior Science Editor Windy Boyd in the list’s introduction.
Payne-Sturges’s commentary, “Confronting Racism in Environmental Health Sciences: Moving the Science Forward for Eliminating Racial Inequities,” advocated for five strategies to help combat environmental racism.
