Dr. Cara Grant Receives SHAPE Maryland Presidential Citation

Grant directs the Master's Certificate in Physical Activity program and was recognized for her work advancing physical education in Maryland

The Society of Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) has awarded Dr. Cara Grant, program director of the master's certificate in physical education (PE-MCERT), with the SHAPE Maryland Presidential Citation. This award honors individuals for their work serving the Maryland SHAPE organization and the field of physical education. 

SHAPE Maryland enhances and promotes the health and wellness of all the citizens of Maryland by providing advocacy, resources, and professional learning opportunities for current and future PreK-12 health and physical educators. She has been recognized through both the local and national organizations for her efforts.

“I was surprised, humbled, and honored to receive an award for my voluntary efforts in the field of education,” said Grant.

In addition to being recognized with the SHAPE Maryland Presidential Citation, Dr. Cara Grant has been acknowledged for her various achievements such as assisting the SHAPE president's service for higher education, serving the local and national SHAPE organizations, her state advocacy work for the education department, and helping grow and enhance the field of physical education teachers. 

Dr. Grant has worked tirelessly in education and is currently the Supervisor of Health and Physical Education for Montgomery County Public schools. Dr. Grant was awarded the SHAPE Maryland Presidential Citation during a virtual banquet ceremony. Dr. Grant received her master's as a physical education coordinator and lecturer at the University of Maryland.
