Each month, our Happiness and Wellness Initiative will share "Some Good News" from the SPH and our extended community. You can submit your own good news by emailing: happyandwell@umd.edu.

Dana Ackerman '19 (BCH) recently got engaged to her fiancé, Jared in upstate New York.

Dana and Jared met at a soccer game through his roommate and bonded over soccer and hiking.

Jared proposed at the top of Marshall, one of the 46 high peaks in the Adirondack Mountains. He created a love book for Dana, a custom-made book of their love story.

The last page told Dana to turn around, where she found Jared down on one knee.

Dana remains involved with the School of Public Health and is currently working on a professional journal theme issue on COIVD-19 and health disparities. She is working with Dr. Stephen Thomas and other leaders on a commentary on the need to establish a Health Equity Intelligence Service.

Congratulations to Dana and Jared!
