Assistant Professor, Global Environmental & Occupational Health

Dr. Heather Amato is an environmental epidemiologist investigating drivers of microbial pathogen transmission through a One Health lens. She leverages spatial and molecular epidemiology to evaluate the impacts of interventions, including water, sanitation, and hygiene and mass dug administration, that may curb the spread of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Dr. Amato has ongoing collaborations in Nepal, Benin, India, and the U.S. to tackle AMR and other critical global health issues.
