Clarifications

Please read the following clarifications which are based on questions frequently asked by students:

  • Notice that simply taking two core courses and one elective course is not enough to obtain the certificate. This is because the certificate requires at least 12 credit hours hence a student must go "above and beyond" the minimum requirements for either the core or elective courses to complete the certificate.
  • The core courses must be completed in the summer.
  •  The MOU between UMD and the SAS Institute was signed in 2019 hence only courses taken during or after that year count towards the certificate.
  • This program is a SAS Joint Certificate which should not be confused with a UMD's Professional Graduate Programs CertificatesAcademic Certificates, or Online Graduate Certificate Programs. This certification is also independent from SAS' Global Certification Program.
