Former School of Public Health Dean and former chair of the Department of Kinesiology Jane E. Clark, PhD, is a renowned expert in infant and children's motor development. Her research in motor development has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. She has received many awards and invitations to speak on her research around the world.

Now, along with her partner Dr. Jill Whitall, PhD '88, a professor emerita in the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science, Clark will attract experts in the field of motor development to speak at the University of Maryland through the Clark-Whitall Endowed Lectureship in Motor Development.

The lectureship supports an annual lecture in motor development for kinesiology undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff and the campus community starting in 2021. It will provide these groups the opportunity to engage with established scholars whose corpus of work has focused on motor development.
