Taylor Sanders and Dan celebrating their engagement with champagne

On Saturday, July 10, 2021, Dan Douangratdy pulled off an amazing proposal to Taylor Sanders, SPH academic advisor, at the historical Palace Theater in Syracuse, NY. Taylor and Dan have been a couple since 2015 when they met as undergraduates at St. John Fisher College. They have persevered through time and distance while Dan was a Peace Corp volunteer in Panama. In 2019, Taylor and Day moved together from New York to Maryland.

After a long-awaited engagement, Dan attended thoughtfully to every detail of this special day—he staged a meaningful location (Taylor is a huge musical theater fan), a slideshow of their time together and secured invitations to family and friends who would be secretly witnessing the start of Taylor and Dan’s next chapter together from the balcony! Dan ensured there wouldn’t be a dry eye among them all!

“I am still reeling with excitement from the proposal, it was such a bright spot after a tough year. The love and support Dan and I have gotten from our friends, family, and SPH coworkers is overwhelming and we are excited for our love story to continue!” shared Taylor.

View photos of Taylor and Dan’s engagement and the eruption of joy from family and friends hiding in the balcony to join them in celebrating this special occasion.
