Congratulations to Our Class of 2021 Graduates!

The University of Maryland will be holding its campuswide Spring 2021 Commencement in person on Friday, May 21, 2021. In order to accommodate all graduates while practicing safe physical distancing, the ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium. The School of Public Health's designated ceremony time is at 4 p.m.

David Andrews Awarded Graduate Faculty Mentor of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. David Andrews for receiving a 2021 Graduate Mentor of the Year Award from the Graduate School. Recipients of this award are selected based on student nominations.  As outlined on The Graduate School website, "The Graduate Faculty Mentor of the Year Award serves the dual purposes of recognizing outstanding mentoring provided by individual faculty and of reminding the university community of the importance of mentoring to graduate studies."

Kinesiology Honors Students Showcase Research Projects

Congratulations to our Spring 2021 graduating cohort of Kinesiology Honors students. On Friday, May 7th, students presented their Honors Thesis on Zoom. From exercise physiology to active transportation, our students examined a variety of kinesiological topics, all while adapting their projects due to COVID-19 limitations. We are especially proud of this adaptable and resilient group of students!

Community Vaccine Clinic at Hyattsville Barbershop

A Hyattsville, Maryland barbershop that serves a predominantly Black and Latino clientele will be the location of a no-cost COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Monday, May 17 from noon to 6 pm. While it is the first Maryland barbershop to serve as a venue for people to get their COVID-19 vaccines, organizers hope it will not be the last.
