Educational and Training Programs

MATCH leverages and expands educational and training programs to benefit grantees, non-grantees and other stakeholders in the Mid-Atlantic region. Among the resources offered:

This annual symposium is an important venue for sharing information on climate and environmental justice issues in the Mid-Atlantic region through panels, workshops, consultations and peer-to-peer exchanges.

A sister program of the Mid-Atlantic EJ Academy, the fellows program trains members of frontline and fenceline communities impacted by climate justice issues in the Mid-Atlantic region on strategies, approaches and tactics to address these concerns.

Founded in 2011, this summer internship program teaches undergraduate students about EJ and health issues through training, enrichment activities and work on CEEJH-related projects. Scholars work on projects for MATCH grantees and non-grantees as a form of technical and scientific assistance.

The institute is a collaboration between CEEJH and Krishnan Vasudevan, an assistant professor with the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Impacted residents from communities experiencing climate and environmental injustice will receive journalism training and then tell their stories through the institute.

Housed in the University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center, the MOST Center is an online education and training platform that provides communities with tools and resources to address environmental issues.

Developed by CEEJH, this series trains residents how to perform community-based air quality monitoring for air pollutants and physical stressors (heat). It also uses geospatial tools and apps to document and address climate and environmental injustices.

Funded by the EPA, the academy works to increase Mid-Atlantic residents’ capacity to address local environmental and climate justice issues in the region.
