ProChange, Maryland Center for Health Equity Awarded $1M CDC Contract to Reduce Health Disparities in Diabetes Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded a $1.06 million, multi-year contract to ProChange, a leader in behavior change science, and the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity to help prevent onset of type 2 diabetes in African American adults through programs delivered in barbershops, salons and interactive text messaging. 

In Summer 2022, the Office of Public Health Practice and Community Engagement (O-PHPCE) was established with a commitment to create and grow sustainable partnerships that engage communities as outlined in our SPH 2024-2030 Strategic Plan.

The Office of Public Health Practice and Community Engagement serves as the convening body for public health practice and community engagement at the University of Maryland School of Public Health. The office is a tangible representation of our school’s commitment to creating and growing sustainable partnerships that engage communities.

Hanley, Ph.D. ’21, named Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) recently named Allison Hanley, Ph.D. ’21, as an officer in its class of 2022. Dr. Hanley, who earned her Ph.D. in epidemiology, is assigned to a two-year fellowship with the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities' Division of Human Development and Disability.

EPA Elevates Environmental Justice with New National Office
