Dr. Mia Smith Bynum, along with two other colleagues, recent graduate Dr. John Hart (PhD '17) and 2018 Presidential Postdoc Dr. Erica Coates published a paper in the journal Parenting: Science and Practice entitled Parenting Style and Parent-Adolescent Relationship Quality in African American Mother-Adolescent Dyads.

Kimberly Stinchcomb, a master's in environmental health alumna, is working to fight the COVID-19 pandemic here in Prince George’s County. Stinchcomb is an emergency preparedness consultant for the UMD Center for Health and Homeland Security, and is contracted to the Prince George’s County Health Department. Her job is to plan for public health emergencies like this one through trainings and exercises, outreach and grant management.

Clark Johnson Lee, an MPH alumnus and current PhD candidate at the School of Public Health, is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic locally, in Montgomery County.

Master of Health Administration (MHA)

Sara Sisselman '17 is using the skills she learned in the Masters of Health Administration program each day as she navigates the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic as the manager for two primary care offices and an urgent care unit for Virginia Hospital Center. She oversees all day to day operations as well as patient safety and quality improvement initiatives. 

The University of Maryland School of Public Health awarded its highest honor, the Distinguished Terrapin Award, to four outstanding members of the SPH community on April 12, 2019. Each honoree was selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their unique relationship to the School of Public Health.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2018, the seventh annual Public Health Research @ Maryland day was held at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, and headlined with a keynote by US Surgeon General Jerome Adams.

The Gamma Zeta chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Public Health is pleased to announce its 2018 inductees. At the induction ceremony and awards reception on May 14, 2018, Dean Boris Lushniak and Principal Associate Dean Dushanka Kleinman inducted 16 students, seven faculty members, five alumni and one honorary member, Mr. Mark Luckner. The ceremony also recognized student research poster winners from each department of the school.
