After a dreary winter—and brutal flu and cold season—most of us are welcoming a new kind of affliction: spring fever. Coma-like weeks on the couch, whether brought on by a super virus or the new season of “Vanderpump Rules,” may have you itching to resuscitate your fitness routine—or reluctant to emerge from hibernation.

A University of Maryland public health researcher joined scholars from institutions worldwide to call for the retraction of four studies purporting to show damaging psychological effects of abortion, including one submitted as evidence in a decision overturning Roe v. Wade and now involved in a current Supreme Court case over availability of the abortion drug mifepristone.

Using Google Street View images and an artificial intelligence system, a research team including a University of Maryland public health scholar were able to predict household energy costs for a broad swath of Chicago’s population.

A date can be anything when you both work at the University of Maryland. It’s one of the many advantages of partnering with a fellow faculty or staff member, along with shared holiday breaks and having a built-in carpool buddy.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Over the last year, more than 20 members of the UMD School of Public Health community - alongside colleagues throughout the state - have been steadily working toward a single ambitious goal: shaping the future of public health in Maryland. 

As an incoming freshman, Jessica Stanley was unsure of her career path. What she knew for certain was that she was interested in the healthcare field. Growing up in Connecticut, Stanley, now 21 and a senior, comes from a healthcare-oriented family, which influenced her decision to follow suit.
