College Park, Md. — COVID-19 worries children from sub-Saharan Africa more than children from other parts of the world, an international study of children’s knowledge, perceptions and stress during the pandemic found. A research team asked questions to more than 4,000 children aged 9-12 in 42 countries during the month of April 2020.

Prince George's County, one of the nation's wealthiest majority-black counties, has reported the most coronavirus infections and some of the highest death tolls in the Washington region, The Washington Post reported. The data shows that death transcends class— black Americans are more likely than white Americans to contract and die from COVID-19. 

In the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd, the University of Maryland School of Public Health is compiling and sharing messages of solidarity, resources for learning more about the impacts of institutionalized racism and opportunities to take action to fight injustice, discrimination and systemic racism.
