The Public Health Science program based at the Universities at Shady Grove, is a science-based program designed specifically for transfer students in their third- and fourth-year. It combines a robust curriculum in the natural sciences with training in the basic fields of public health, including courses in areas such as kinesiology, biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, and behavioral and community health.
The Department of Kinesiology (KNES) and the School of Public Health (SPH) offer a variety of services to our students to promote academic success, skill development, and personal growth. These opportunities range from career advising, professional development workshops and networking events, internships, independent study, research, and student organizations, among others. Learn more about the opportunities specifically available to undergraduate and graduate students below.
The Department of Kinesiology brings expertise to examine the complexity of physical activity and its role in human health. At a time when the nation is witnessing an obesity epidemic, enjoys watching sport more than playing sport, and has an aging population at risk for falls, kinesiology brings together individuals with backgrounds in physiology, psychology, sociology, communications, history, engineering, education, and neuroscience to work on these and many other important public health problems.
