The Department of Behavioral and Community Health (BCH) offers a wealth of co-and extra-curricular opportunities for students. Students have the opportunity to earn credit for completing an internship with a local organization or an independent study with a faculty member. Serving all Department of Behavioral and Community Health undergraduates and graduates, Eta Sigma Gamma is a national health education honorary dedicated to the promotion of the discipline by elevating the standards, ideals, competence, and ethics of professionally prepared individuals in health education.

Our Research Activities

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts innovative and collaborative research to develop, test, and apply established and novel epidemiological and biostatistical methods to address the public health needs of populations at risk for several disease outcomes through a multidisciplinary lens.

Training the Next Generation to Use Epidemiological and Quantitative Methods to Improve Health and Reduce Health Disparities

We prepare students for research and careers that examines environmental, social and behavioral, biological and genetic factors using established epidemiological and quantitative methods, as well as developing new scientifically grounded approaches, that are applied predominately to identifying determinants of health and discovering and evaluating primary and secondary prevention strategies for chronic diseases and infectious diseases.
