Attipoe shares thoughts on her recent “Law, Public Health and the Cuban Family” summer program, which included visits to health clinics and hospitals, the pharmaceutical factory where Cuba invented its COVID-19 vaccine, a fertility clinic and a Cuban medical school.

Women with breast cancer who are age 65 and older can qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid if their income levels are low, but having dual coverage doesn’t always lead to better outcomes, according to a new University of Maryland study.

More than 30 faculty members and students from the University of Maryland School of Public Health, University of Birmingham in England and University College Dublin in Ireland spent three days swapping experiences, sharing research and touring the University of Maryland as part of the first Universitas 21 Health Research Exchange (U21HREx) research symposium held at the University of Maryland School of Public Health in College Park and the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. 

This May, the University of Maryland School of Public Health recognized four outstanding members of the SPH community with the Distinguished Terrapin Award, the school's highest honor. The awardees were recognized at the Dean's Recognition Ceremony on May 5, 2023 which was attended by members of the SPH Dean's Council, supporters and friends of the school, along with faculty, staff and students. Fourteen members of the SPH community received awards, which recognized outstanding teaching, public health practice, service, mentoring and commitment to the school’s success. 

The Gamma Zeta chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Public Health is pleased to announce its 2023 inductees. Inducted are 12 students, five faculty members, two alumni and one community partner.

Each Spring, the University of Maryland School of Public Health recognizes undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated excellence and dedication in their educational and public health service activities.

This year’s Celebration of Scholarships and Student Awards, which took place on Thursday, May 11, honored more than 100 students who received scholarships, fellowships and awards in 2022 and 2023.
