Congratulations to the two University of Maryland School of Public Health students who won prizes for this year’s Do Good Challenge!

A year that exposed how our health intertwines with everything from racism to social media misinformation taught valuable lessons that shouldn’t be lost amid the relief of increasing vaccinations against COVID-19.

In their recent article in Public Health Reports, Heather Platter, Katya Kaplow, and Cynthia Baur report findings and implications from their Community Health Literacy Assessment (CHLA) conducted in Maryland from January to August of 2018.

Seven School of Public Health students were recognized with the Gold “Creativity in Crisis” Prize on Friday, April 23, during the Innovation in Public Health Seminar. The award included a monetary prize of $750. Four more students received honorable mention.

Dr. Dushanka Kleinman and Cindy Brach were recently featured on the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice (JPHMP) Direct Talk podcast to chat about their article, Updating Health Literacy for Healthy People 2030, published ahead of print in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice.
