The Cardiometabolic Mechanisms Laboratory is focused on understanding how aging-related changes in the vasculature and mitochondria contribute to muscular and metabolic dysfunction in older adults, as well as the use of different exercise interventions on these outcomes. We specifically conduct research in older humans that uses cell culture and muscle biology techniques to uncover molecular and cellular contributors to aging-associated diseases and disorders such as type 2 diabetes, sarcopenia and frailty.
